Senior CNC Field Service Technician

Southeast Wisconsin base · travel across WI, with scheduled trips into MN, IA and NE

You've done this job for years. You can walk up to a machine you've never seen, pull the alarm history, and know within an hour whether it's a drive, a cable, or a parameter. What you're tired of is everything around the job: the dispatch board, the territory politics, the recommendation that has one eye on a machine sale.

Chief's CNC Services is an independent field service company — no machine sales, no quotas, no layers. It's run by a retired Navy Chief with 15+ years of OEM factory service (Makino, Ellison Technologies, DMG Mori, including service management). The business is growing past what one tech can cover. This hire is the second wrench in the company, and it comes with the room that implies: real input, no bureaucracy, and first shot at leading others as the company grows.

What the work is

Mechanical and electrical repair, control troubleshooting (Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Haas, Brother), preventive maintenance routes, spindle and ballscrew replacement, laser and ballbar work, installs and relocations. Job shops and tier suppliers across Wisconsin, scheduled multi-day runs into Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska, and government and defense work as SDVOSB contracts land.

You should have

• 10+ years of CNC machine tool service in the field — dealer, OEM, or serious in-house
• Deep fluency on at least two major control families
• The ability to run a service call completely alone: diagnose, quote, fix, verify, document
• A clean driving record, tolerance for real travel, and the customer manner to be the only face of the company a shop ever sees
• Bonus points: OEM factory training, install and rigging experience, metrology (ballbar/laser), military service
